You can write a lousy brief and have a terrible oral argument and still win case where the law and the facts are on your side; conversely, you can write the best brief in the world and still lose. How do you appropriately take credit for a good result in those situations? And how do you avoid taking on undue blame for a bad result?

So I focus on the results as well as the smaller benchmarks. I might lead a team of 20 people that developed a wonderful project that we can implement, even in part. Or I might note that the funder or in your case the judge complemented my need statement as the most thorough and compelling.
